Course Care
Welcome to Pinjarra Golf Club, where country golfing is at its best. We are sure you will have a wonderful time at our facility.
We are extremely proud of our golf course and ask you to treat the facility with respect and the utmost care, so that the golfers playing behind you can enjoy the same experience.
The following points are provided to assist the upkeep of the course:
- Repair divots by knocking in the edges and levelling with sand.
- Repair all plug marks on greens with a pitch repairer.
- Enter and leave bunkers from the lowest access point.
- Do not lean on your putter when on the green.
- Do not remove your golf ball from the hole with your putter.
- Players should take buggies around the greens, but not near the edge of greens.
- Buggies are not permitted on greens.
Bunkers
- Before leaving a bunker, a player should carefully smooth over all holes and footprints with the rakes provided.
- Always enter the bunker at the lowest point. Pull rake toward you as you exit the bunker. If required rake other affected areas.
- Do not pile sand at the edge of the bunker – Push back excess sand with the flat side of the rake. This will ensure that the next golfer’s ball that enter the bunker will have the opportunity to reach the base of the bunker.
- Please return rate to the designated rake holder upon exiting the bunker.
Repairing Pitch Marks
- Always begin repairing the pitch mark from the highest point and lightly push back towards the centre of the damaged area.
- Continue to use repairer around all sides of the damage and slowly ease turf toward the centre of the mark. Do not lift the soil upwards as this will damage the turf’s roots.
- Lightly tap down with putter to flatten the putting surface.
Repairing Divots
- Remove any loose turf from the affected area.
- Knock in all sides of the edge of the divot with your club or your shoe.
- Fill divot will sand to the level of the turf. Overfilling divots will not allow the grass to photosynthesise and therefore recover.
- Excessive sanding can damage the blades on the Course Maintenance team’s mowers, leading to expensive repairs and loss of efficiency.
Damage to Greens
Players and caddies must ensure that no damage is caused to the putting green. Damage can be avoided by:
- Not parking your golf buggies within five metres of the putting surface.
- Not standing to close to the hole when a flag is being attended.
- Not dropping the flag on the putting surface once it has been removed from the hole – we ask that it is lowered by your hand or by a club, should you lack mobility.
Removing Ball from the Cup
- Players are requested not to use their putter to remove their golf ball from the hole.
- The flagstick should be properly replaced in the hole before the players leave the putting green.
Motorised Vehicles
All vehicles must:
- Come to a complete stop, with park brake applied before occupants exit the vehicle.
- Not be taken within 5 metres of greens, tees and bunkers unless on established pathways.
- Not be parked in front of greens as this will lead to slow player. Golfers are requested to park their vehicles beyond the green complex. · Be kept to the fairways.
- Follow signage and directional advice set out by Course Staff to ensure carts are kept clear of all wet areas.
- Avoid sensitive and newly planted native vegetation.
- Not carry more than two persons at any time.
NOTE – It is the responsibility of the Hirer to pay for any damage to cart – if you do not adhere to these requests, your golf cart may be confiscated, without the opportunity for a refund.
Green Cutting Procedure
Greens are cut in a predetermined order based on noise restrictions. On days when competitions are programmed, the aim is to cut each green before players on the time sheet reach any designated green.
Course staff are instructed to proceed with their programme of work and have right of way, as it is imperative that these tasks are completed within their allotted time to avoid competition disturbance.
