Lakes Course

Hole 1

White Par 3 197 m

Green Par 3 190 m

Long downhill par three to start with a hazard trapping any shot right and green guarded left by a deep bunker. It takes a good hit for the first one of the day to find the green.

Hole 2

White Par 4 364 m

Green Par 4 363 m

A difficult par four that requires precision from the tee. Your drive needs to be left of centre as any shot right that doesn’t get swallowed by the dam will be blocked out by the trees. Don’t go too far left though as it’s out of bounds on the driveway and there are some strategically placed ferns on the left. The green is surrounded by grass bunkers to the right and back and a grassy mound at the front.

Hole 3

White Par 3 173 m

Green Par 3 142 m

Picturesque par three with large lake on the left side all the way up the hole. Medium to long iron needed from the back tee, not so tough from the front. A safe shot is to the right as it will roll down nearer the green. Anything left will be in dire straits if it misses the grass bunker. Once finished this hole enjoy a short walk along the lake to the next tee

Hole 4

White Par 4 291 m

Green Par 4 278 m

This short but challenging par 4 requires a well placed tee shot on the fairway. The golfer must then commit to their second shot as the green is surrounded by water hazards on the left, front and right of the green and a steep embankment with long grass at the rear. The short iron shot into the green will test the nerves of most seasoned golfers.

Hole 5

White Par 4 310 m

Green Par 4 303 m

Tee shot over water is only a small carry but has brought many a laugh to playing partners as they watch their mate dump one in. A fairway bunker traps any drive left and the green is also guarded by a bunker short left. Don’t be fooled into hitting right though as any shot that misses the green right side runs off down the hill quickly.

Hole 6

White Par 4 328 m

Green Par 4 300 m

Short par four but not easy. A blind tee shot over the hill needs to start on the right side as all the trouble is left. Downhill approach shot into a generous green but if you stray off line there is a lake left, drain over the back and another hazard to the right.

Hole 7

White Par 5 435 m

Green Par 5 393 m

A reasonably short par five provides an opportunity for some pars and birdies. Fairway bunker on the right can catch a stray tee shot but shouldn’t really come into play. There is another bunker just short of the green to the left. The way to play this hole is straight up the middle all the way.

Hole 8

White Par 4 323 m

Green Par 4 291 m

Similar to the fifth hole but slightly tougher from the tee. Your tee shot needs to be a little right of centre but beware not to go too far into the trees. There is also some rough that comes across as the fairway ends. You will only have a short shot into a large green but the green is very tricky and you don’t want to go past the hole on your approach. To the left of the green a grass bunker swallows up any shot left into the green. There is also a hazard over the back of the green. Once finished this hole walk off to the right and follow the signs left and around the lake to the next tee for the run home.

Hole 9

White Par 4 350 m

Green Par 4 298 m

Probably the toughest driving hole of all at Cardinia Beaconhills and requires a steady nerve. Trees and a hazard down the right and the huge lake on the left just waits to grab any stray ball and add to its collection. If you can find the fairway you are left with an iron shot up hill guarded by a large bunker at the front. A true test of golf.
